How far in advance should I book my session? The earlier, the better! Senior photo sessions tend to fill up fast, especially in the Spring, so the Summer and Fall are the best times to book.
How long will my session last? A typical session lasts 1-2 hours, with time to change clothing. If shooting in more than one location, a session may last a little longer due to travel and location set up.
Where will the session take place? That depends on you and your style! Some clients prefer the outdoors, so we go to the mountains. Others prefer a more urban setting, so we travel to Bisbee. Other folks have access to private locations, like an uncle’s ranch or a friend’s farm. The location depends on you. Please note, certain locations may require extra travel and may incur travel expenses.
Can other people be included in my photos? Yes! Do you have a boyfriend or a best friend with whom you’d like a few photos? Ask me! We also have Best Friend sessions which are completely different. Tell me what you’d like and I’ll give you our best option.
Do you offer a senior rep program? We are working on it at this time. Are you interested? Drop me a note – you may qualify!
What do I need to bring to the photo session? Please bring 2-4 changes of clothes. Feel free to bring other possible options, even if you’re not sure you’ll use them. You can bring changes of shoes and might want to bring a practical pair of walking shoes, especially if we’re out in nature or climbing stairs in Bisbee!
I don’t want the same photos as everyone else. Can you make mine original? Your photos will be original to you. I have a specific photographic style and you have a specific personality. Let’s work together to find the best, most original images just for YOU!
Can I incorporate my car into the photos? Absolutely!
What should I do to prepare for the session? I don’t currently offer the services of a make-up artist or hair stylist, but if you’d like these services and know someone you trust, feel free to pay them a visit before your session – or bring them along, if they’re willing. Be well rested the night before so you look your best!
What comes with the packages? We have a variety of packages with several different options. Are you looking for prints? Announcement cards or invitations? We have a lot of options and would love to chat about them at our Prep Session.
This is my first time having professional photos taken. What should I expect? Just relax. This is a lot of fun! I will use my experience in posing and lighting to make you look your best, so don’t worry – just come have fun and let me do the hard work for you!
Do you have the option of taking my yearbook headshot? It really depends on your school. Some schools allow this, while others want you to use a list of photographers they choose. If you’re allowed, yes, I can do your headshot, but please be sure to obtain permission and the requirements from the school in advance.
What happens if it rains? We will talk about options for rescheduling if it rains or if the weather doesn’t look the best for pictures. Don’t let an overcast day fool you; sometimes cloudy skies make the best light!
I’m shy. Won’t it be awkward having my family stare at me while the shoot is going on? I want you to be comfortable. Please only invite friends and family with whom you feel comfortable. I won’t allow more than two people to accompany you, so if your little brother makes you crazy, it’s probably better if he stays home.
So, who should come with me to the shoot? Sometimes moms or dads like to come to shoots, boyfriends and besties. While it’s helpful to have someone you trust, you are also welcome to come by yourself, as long as you’re comfortable. While I have an assistant, he or she will be working for me and won’t be available to help you with clothing changes, carrying props, etc.
Will these images be posted online or any social networks? Yes. I typically post on Facebook/LilyandDaisyPhoto.com, @LilyandDaisy on Twitter, and Instagram (@SpeakingofAmethyst) within a day or two after the shoot. You’ll be able to share photos from your online gallery after our order session.
Will I have the option to use props? Oh, please do! Part of the Senior Session is telling the world who you are RIGHT NOW. Love a certain band? Don a hat like the lead guitarist. Are you an athlete? Bring your baseball bat. Love to wail on a mean sax? Bring it, bring it, bring it!!
Should I go tanning before my session? This is up to you. If you are too tan or not tan enough, I’m sorry, but I can’t “Photoshop it” to make it right for you. If you decide to tan, please do it so you have enough time before your scheduled shoot date to let it fade if it’s too much.
How do I go about securing my session? Give us a call – we’ll give you all the details!
The products listed on your site are different from others I’ve seen. Is there any way to get different products? We have many products – if there’s something you want but don’t see it, please ask. We might be able to get it for you.
What happens if you’re sick or are unable to shoot the session on the scheduled day? I’ll call you to reschedule.
How will I know how to pose? I will help you! I have years of experience and it’s my job to make you look your best. It’s your job to have an awesome time!
How many outfit changes can I have? On average, about 3 complete changes. You can throw on a different shirt or change shoes or accessories; have a casual and a dressy option, add a jacket, etc. Typically, Seniors change fully twice.
I really don’t like “X” about me. Can we shoot around it? Depending on the request, I will do my best. Let’s talk about it – you never know!
How long have you been shooting seniors? I’ve been doing Senior Photography since 2007.
Can this session be done at multiple locations? Yes. Depending on the distance, there may be extra travel fees.
I prefer black and white images. Will you edit them in color and black and white? Yes. Some images are more suited to black and white, others to color. I usually decide based on the image in the editing process.
Is there an extra fee for creative edits? Not usually. It really depends on how complicated and edit is and how much time it takes to perform. Have an idea? Don’t be afraid to ask! I’ll let you know you my professional opinion!
How many photos will I receive? You will receive between 25-35 completed images from which to choose.
Do you offer professional retouching (e.g. zit removal)? All final images are treated with a basic edit. This includes blemish (zit) removal, light skin smoothing, basic image retouching and a little more. If you have a prominent mole you’d like to have removed, please let me know. It’s often such a part of a person’s character, she prefers to leave it as is. More extravagant image retouching, like braces removal are an extra fee because they take longer to perform.
What if my braces are still on at the time of the shoot? Braces removal is a little more complicated to edit out. If you’re weeks away from getting them off, let’s schedule around the removal to take the pictures. If it’s going to be longer and you still want them off, there is a charge to remove the braces PER IMAGE. You might want to choose your images first, then pick which ones you’d like to see without braces before making a decision.
What should I wear? The choice is yours. I would go with bold color choices, but not necessarily bright colors or crazy patterns. These are more difficult to photograph. Be careful about plunging necklines if this is not your typical style. Dress the way YOU dress when you’re casual and wear something which reflects your personality dressed up, if you choose. If you borrow clothes from a friend or sibling, be sure you LIKE what you’re wearing and you’re comfortable. If you’re not, the camera will know!
What if I wear glasses? Some people choose to remove their glasses because of glare, but we will work hard to ensure there is little or no glare on your glasses if you choose to leave them on. For many of us, glasses are a big part of our ‘look’ and remember we want to know who YOU are, right now!
What time of day would be best for the session? Afternoon light, particularly late afternoon light, is my personal favorite.
What senior products do you offer? We offer mugs, key chains, announcement cards, thank you cards, party invitations, and more. We also offer a special, one-of-a-kind framed collage. We have many more items; just ask!
Can the products you offer be customized? Yes.
Is there any extra cost to include my pet? As long as we make arrangements in advance, animals do not cost extra. However, animals tend to tire easily and that’s okay. We typically shoot with the animals FIRST. Please bring someone who can provide care for your animal while you’re in your session and who can take Fido home when we’re done him. DO NOT leave your pet in the car while we work.
Can we take pictures with my horse? Absolutely! Again, please bring someone who can ‘handle’ your horse so you can worry about pictures and not about making sure your horse behaves. Horses and other animals take a little longer. Please be prepared for this and bring a sack of patience!
If we end up needing more time on the day of the session, can it be added on then? Yes, for a small fee.
Do you bring an assistant with you? Yes
My best friend wants to be a photographer. Can she come? Yes, but please ask her to leave her camera at home.
Can we take pictures with our cell phones during the shoot? No, we do not allow photography, still or video, of any kind during a shoot. You hired me to capture your images and I’m happy to do the best job possible for you! Just relax and we’ll handle everything.
Will I have an online gallery I can show my friends and family? Yes. It even works on your mobile devices!
My dad works on the Fort and he’s worried about security. What can we do? We have options. Do you just need a password on your gallery? I can do that. If it’s more complicated, we are happy to respect your individual family situation.
Why is your logo on all the photos? Will the logo be on the prints? The logo is on my photos to protect my copyright. No, it will not be on your prints.
What type of payments do you accept? We accept all major credit cards, checks and cash.
